Volk Optical has launched the H-R Wide Field Laser Lens, a pan-retinal lens intended for diagnosis and PRP laser treatment.
The lens uses Volk's patented double aspheric design with low dispersion glass to minimize distortion, giving a clear view of the periphery and the ora serrata. The lens is small - approximately half the size of the model that preceded it - providing a magnification of .50x and a laser spot size of 2.0x.
"The lens is CE marked and is available around the world now. It's been available for three or four months, but I think that many people still don't know about it. We've had a very good reception at this meeting, though," said John Strobel, Volk's vice president of sales & marketing.
The price differential between the newer and older models of the lens is minimal: the H-R Wide Field is available for €580, whereas the older lens costs €570.
"Although of course the currency varies around the world, the percentage difference between the two lenses remains very small," said Mr Strobel.
In conjunction with the release of the new lens, Volk has also launched its newly-designed website, which enables web visitors to use a simulation of the H-R Wide Field on a virtual eye, and compare this with a simulation of other lenses.
