Ultralase has become the first and only national provider to have all its UK surgeons accredited by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth).

All refractive surgeons practising across Ultralase’s network of over 25 British clinics received the RCOphth 'Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery' after undergoing strict assessments in areas such as surgical skills and patient management.

Research from a survey conducted by Optician magazine and the British Society for Refractive Surgery (September/October 2008) revealed that the experience of a surgeon is the number one factor people consider when choosing a clinic.

Kathy Evans, chief executive for the RCOphth, added: “The assessment was set up for the benefit of patients and we are delighted that the number of surgeons now obtaining the certificate has increased.”

Mark Korolkiewicz, clinical services director at Ultralase, said: “For our refractive surgeons to be certified by the RCOphth is testament to the high levels of skill, knowledge and expertise we can offer to patients.”
