Supported by a number of organisations including the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE), the Hellenic Society (EOE) and the German Society (DOG), the dictionary was created by Dr Philipp Franko Zeitz, with help from Professor Wiebke Petersen from the Institute of Computational Linguistics, University of Düsseldorf, Germany.

The dictionary is freely available online in Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Croatian. Anyone is welcome to submit missing terms and corrections. Dr Zeitz and Professor Wiebke plan to release a print version in the near future.
