Alcon and Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) are to share proprietary information on their designs for intraocular lenses (IOL).

Alcon and Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) are to share proprietary information on their designs for intraocular lenses (IOL). The companies have entered into a patent cross-licensing agreement on lubricious coatings for IOL inserters and designs for one-piece haptics.

Alcon has granted AMO a license to its "Single Piece Foldable Intraocular Lens" patent, insofar as the information relates to AMO's Tecnis One-Piece IOL. In return, AMO has granted Alcon a license to its patents "IOL Insertion Apparatus with Covalently Bonded Lubricant" and "IOL Insertion Apparatus and Method for Making and Using Same".
