The company received its operating license and will open its first Chinese office this year. Currently, there are Adlens offices based in Oxford, Boston, Tokyo, Japan and Hong Kong, but the step into China is the latest in its growth trajectory.

Adlens will market its lens technology Emergensee and optical sunglasses Hemisphere, as well as The John Lennon Collection, which features fluid-injection technology. For every pair of fluid-injection glasses Adlens sells, it donates a pair to a person in the developing world.

Michael C. Ferrara, CEO of Adlens, commented, “This new entity marks an important step forward in the growth of our company. We are building the variable focus eyewear category across the China region, which is one of our key corporate priorities. At the same time, we are increasing access globally to help satisfy steady consumer demand and support both our business and philanthropic missions.”
