MEEI drops litigation against QLT & Novartis

Litigation proceedings initiated by the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) in 2001 against QLT and Novartis Ophthalmics, have been settled.

Litigation proceedings initiated by the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) in 2001 against QLT and Novartis Ophthalmics, have been settled.

Under the terms of the agreement, MEEI will dismiss its claim that QLT and Novatis had infringed US Patent #6,225,303 and QLT and Novartis will dismiss its counterclaims against MEEI and named MEEI researchers.

However, a further patent lawsuit, brought in 2000 by MEEI against QLT, has yet to be resolved.
