A recent survey looked at how doctors adopt and use new technology, including the internet and found that overall an increasing amount of their time is being spent online and access to the most up-to-date online medical and pharmaceutical resources plays an increasingly important role. For example, the number of doctors using smartphones shot up 64% in 2009 and doctors using mobile devices such as iPhones and BlackBerries increased by 20% between 2008 and 2009. According to Monique Levy, senior director of research at Manhattan Research (which conducted the survey): "Physicians have always been advanced in terms of their mobile use. Nevertheless, growth in smartphone ownership in the last year is remarkable. Mobile is delivering on its promise to allow doctors to be 'always on' — which is partly why so many doctors say the intenet is essential to their practice."

That has also been our experience over the past 12 months at Ophthalmology Times Europe and so with that in mind the editorial team will be introducing a brand new, innovative, twice-monthly OTE digital magazine for readers offering you a timely and content rich extension to our print magazine, enewsletter and website.

Ophthalmology Times Digest Europe means you can receive an OTE digest that will draw on all the information sources available to us and deliver them to you in a quick, easy-to-read format that will also offer you the option to download and read at your leisure. The content will be different to that offered in our print magazine and newsletter and takes account of the fact that not everyone has sufficient time to invest in reading a print magazine and we want to deliver the best possible return on the investment our readers make in us.

If you would like to guarantee you receive a copy of Ophthalmology Times Digest Europe please email your request to the editor pbrook@advanstar.com
