Eric Greve, one of the founding members of the European Glaucoma Society (EGS), has been honoured during a lunchtime ceremony at its quadrennial International Congress, held June 1–6 in Berlin, Germany.

Eric Greve, one of the founding members of the European Glaucoma Society (EGS), has been honoured during a lunchtime ceremony at its quadrennial International Congress, held June 1–6 in Berlin, Germany.

Professor Greve and two colleagues first suggested the idea of a pan-European professional glaucoma society in 1977; the first committee of the EGS was formed in 1978. Outgoing president, Professor Roger Hitchings, presented Professor Greve with an Honorary Fellowship of the society in recognition of Professor Greve's 30 years of dedicated service.

Following the brief ceremony, Professor Hitchings was also commended by President Elect Clive Migdal.
